How To Install The RV Satellite Antenna?

Oct. 30, 2020

Technology has indeed changed our lives. We used to sit at home and watch TV, but now we can also watch TV in a driving RV. Since I can watch TV in the RV, I have to owe it to the onboard satellite antenna. Auto Satellite Dish are different from home TV antennas. They take into account factors such as earthquake resistance and waterproofing. After integration, the price of car satellite antennas will be more expensive.

TVs are now standard equipment in almost every RV, but TVs and signal sources are not enough! Just like someone gave you a mobile phone and didn't give you a charger. We all know that the Satellite Dish that matches the TV is not a standard product and generally requires us to choose it. This time, we got a common car satellite antenna on the market and installed it on the trailer. Because it is impossible to sit in a trailer while driving on the road, there is no need to watch TV while driving. So what we installed is a static vehicle satellite antenna

Considering the aesthetics of the interior of the RV, we installed the indoor equipment and wiring harness into the RV closet compartment. After installation, adding a baffle after installation does not affect storage in the closet again. The control handle is connected to the black drive box slot through a white wire harness similar to a telephone line. The drive box is mainly used to control the outdoor antenna, providing users with an interactive man-machine interface, and providing antenna-related settings and control commands. . A blue screen on the control handle can clearly see the satellite information.

The drive box is used to control the motor of the Outdoor Antenna and execute control commands. The drive box itself also needs electricity to work. At the interface of the drive box, a wire harness composed of red, yellow and black is connected to the 12V car battery on the motorhome to ensure that the drive box works normally.

The drive box and the external antenna are connected by a thicker black wire harness. This wire harness has two interfaces. The thicker one end of the interface is connected to the drive box. It is mainly used to execute the operation commands of the control handle and transmit to An external antenna, then an external antenna can search for satellites. After finding the satellite information, we transmit the TV signal we need to the drive box through the coaxial cable. The drive box performs information integration and processing. There is a common single needle at the output port of the drive box. Antenna, input the signal into the set-top box device.

The TV signal output from the drive box is transmitted to the TV set-top box, and the three red, yellow, and white wire harnesses of the set-top box are connected to the TV radio frequency port, so that a complete indoor wiring installation is completed. Next, let's install the outdoor antenna... The indoor wiring harness needs to be connected to the outdoor antenna to work properly, so we need to drill holes in the roof. The drilling is completed, and the indoor wiring harness is led to the roof through the hole. Since the roof has been opened, the remaining holes and gaps should be sealed after the antenna is installed to prevent water leakage. The outdoor antenna will be equipped with a metal base. Before installation, the base must be fixed to the roof of the car, and the surface of the base contacting the roof of the car should be coated with sealant and the roof for bonding. Wait a while until the contact surface of the base is completely fixed to the roof. Until the roof.

After the indoor and outdoor installations are completed, the next step is to debug. After turning on the power, the system will automatically check the antenna. After the automatic check is over, the word POWER OFF will appear on the screen. Press POWER ON once, and the antenna will automatically search for the last searched satellite. The system will keep searching until the satellite signal is locked. After locking, the system will look for the maximum value of the target satellite, and this process will last about 20 seconds.
